What is the difference between a Ceramic Coating and Paint Protection Film?
Simply put: Paint protection film protects your vehicle against stone chips and scratches, and ceramic coatings protect your vehicle against staining and is designed keep it clean and provide a very user friendly experience while washing your vehicle!
Are there benefits of having both a Ceramic coating and a paint protection film installed?
YES! These products work in harmony together - what paint protection film lacks in, the ceramic coating makes up for it, and vice versa. Paint protection films biggest downfall is staining from left on bug guts, bird droppings, tree sap and fall out - ceramic coatings fix this issue. We always suggest both of these protective add-ons to the vehicle for maximum protection. Ceramic coatings are designed to bond to both paint and paint protection film.
How long does it take to install paint protection film?
Depending on the protection kit you chose, the install time can take anywhere between 8 hours and several days! Regardless of the kit installed, we recommend leaving the vehicle with us in our temperature controlled shop overnight to ensure that the film has properly dried and has met our standard of quality.
How long does it take to install a ceramic coating?
The installation will take between 2-3 days depending on the package you chose. This provides sufficient time for the base layers and top coat layers to dry properly.
Why do you carry multiple paint protection film brands?
That is a great question! We carry 4 lines of paint protection film, 3M Pro Series Scotchgard, Xpel Ultimate, Ceramic Pro Kavaca, and Autobahn Performance Film Road-Guard. We have used a multitude of different brands, and are always in search of “the next best thing”, however, no other brand compares to the ones that we continue to carry.
Being a “Powered by” - Ceramic Pro shop, we have access to Kavaca - an absolutely stunning film that features instant self healing technology that is proprietary to Ceramic Pro. Kavaca is the most “luxurious” brand that we carry, as well as the most expensive. Kavaca is backed by a 12 year warranty and has the Ceramic Pro coating already installed on the film.
Autobahn “Road Guard” is another high quality brand that is exclusive to Autobahn Authorized Installers. Autobahn manufactures the strongest performing window films on the market - with that being said, we joined the Autobahn team and in doing so we have received exclusive access to their paint protection film known as Road Guard. Road Guard is currently the only recognized film that provides you with a lifetime warranty on the film - yes - lifetime! It is also such an exclusive brand that if you want to have a film that no one has, this will fit your needs.
3M Pro Series.. what can we say - they are the worlds most renown film manufacturer. Their professional line is called Pro Series V4, and that is the film we carry. Pro Series Film is thicker than other brands - therefore it offers the most protection available. 3M Pro Series film has self healing technology that is heat activated, high gloss and truly exceptional clarity - it is also the strongest performing stain resisting film in its category. Did we mention that they provide a hassle free 10 year warranty on their film? 3M Pro Series has also been ranked as the number one choice of paint protection film from Tesla Motor Club. And most importantly - 3M Pro Series film does not turn yellow!
3M Pro Series also has a one of a kind matte finished paint protection film - giving you the availability to protect your matte painted vehicle, or do a matte conversion on your vehicle to remove the shine and swap it for a matte finish which has become one of the most popular installs to do! 3M’s matte paint protection film is not quite matte however, is has a silky/satin finish that is really one of a kind. 3M’s matte film to date is our favourite to install because of the satin finish it provides.
Xpel Ultimate Plus - why do we carry this brand? Is it better than 3M? Why are the installation prices the same? Alright, let’s begin. Xpel Ultimate Plus is a brand that has found a spot in our arsenal of tools. The biggest interest in their film was their line called Ultimate Plus 7 - a thinner and more malleable film designed to be installed on the interior consoles and pieces inside your car. Being tailor made for such intricate work, we decided that we needed to carry this brand. Thicker films may provide more protection, but the thicker film was not designed for interior pieces. Aside from Ultimate Plus 7, we have also brought in their line of film called Ultimate Plus - a film designed to protect your paint. Is it better than 3M? In short, no. Is 3M better than Xpel? No. So why do we carry both? Good question - the majority of dealerships nowadays sell their vehicles with a paint protection film kit installed on portions of the vehicle, and truth be told, the kits installed will either be 3M or Xpel Ultimate - and both films look different from one another. Not better, not worse, just the pattern of the texture in this films are different - and the trained eye can see it. So if your car has Xpel Ultimate already on it, and you want to protect the rest of the vehicle, we will continue with the brand of film that is already on your vehicle. The cost for an Xpel installation with us is the same as a 3M installation.
Xpel has a matte finished paint protection film known as Stealth. Stealth is a truly matte finished film and has an exceptional look. Unlike 3M, it does not leave you with a satin finish. Stealth is the number 1 matte paint protection film to use in the industry to give you that truly matte look, and it is why we carry it.
I want to do a matte conversion on my car, should I use 3M Pro Series Matte or Xpel Stealth?
That is entirely up to you, both films have a 10 year warranty and are industry leading! What we suggest is for us to put a piece of both brands film on your car and you can then chose the “finished” look you want, whether it be more on the satin side (3M) or on the matte side (Xpel). Either way, you can’t go wrong!
Why do I need a Ceramic Pro “Rain” treatment on my windows?
Unprotected glass can be a hazard during rain as water can cover the windows decreasing visibility and becoming a safety hazard. Having Ceramic Pro Rain on all windows will increase the visibility by repelling water and allowing it to bead up and flow right off the glass. It will also keep the glass cleaner for a longer time since dirt and grime will no longer stick to it.
